[DEMIURGE ONLINE]

Operatives, we are working as hard as we can to fix the glitch in the sub-processor, but it is imperative that you continue your mission if you are able. As we told you in the last session, we do not think you are in any danger.

[DEMIURGE OFFLINE]

Inside, the light is bright and steady and there is no flame anywhere, no lamp, nothing burning. Panels set into the walls give off light of their own, and pictures move inside them: people, words, colours, all of it without smoke and without any painter. Not every panel is an ostentum. Some of them simply belong to the place, the way painted walls belong to a villa. The air is cool, and it is the same temperature everywhere.

A small chamber carries you upward without stairs. Nothing you have ever ridden in works like it. It stops, and you come out at the top of the building.

The room at the top has walls of the clear substance on every side. You have never seen anything so transparent or so smooth. Behind a strange desk sits Sinistrus.

He is not as he was. The clothes are the same and the face is the same, and something around him is out of true. Where he stands the air turns colder. His shadow falls across the floor at an angle the light does not account for. Here, in this foreign place, in the one place where you are utterly lost, Sinistrus looks like a man in his own house.

"Recentii," he says. "How good of you." His voice is easy and warm, in the way a friend's voice is warm. His eyes are not in it. Somewhere under your ribs the falling sensation starts again.

Sinistrus stands, and speaks, and his voice fills the room.

Prompt: Discover what Sinistrus is doing in an office building in the TSTT.
