"venī!" Bellātor clāmāvit. "tē ad locum tūtiōrem dūcēmus!"

 

Bellātor manūs sub umerōs Plīniī posuit et eum levāre temptāvit. sed Plīnius gravis erat, et fessus, et Bellātor eum movēre nōn poterat.

 

"nōn... nōn possum," Plīnius dīxit. "sed audīte."

 

inter spīritūs pauca verba dīxit:

 

"Aegyptus... sub terrā... cavum..."

 

et nihil amplius dīxit. oculī eius clausī sunt, et post breve tempus nōn iam spīrābat.

 

Bellātor eum diū spectāvit. bonum erat temptāre, sed Plīnius iam ultrā auxilium erat, et verba eius nunc periērunt.

 

Sextus Recentiōs ā Plīniō trāxit. "nihil amplius facere possumus," quiētē dīxit.
