C. Iulius Caesar, De Bello Gallico 5.29

The council of war continues, with the opposing case now put by Q. Titurius Sabinus. The passage covers his reading of Caesar's whereabouts, the temper of Gaul and Germany, and the merits he claims for his own proposal against the one Cotta has argued for. Ariovistus, the German king defeated in the first year of the war, is named here for the first time in the series.
